Chemistry Faculty Awarded Patents for Pioneering Technologies

The Department of Chemistry at Mississippi State University celebrated the issuance of new patents to three of its faculty during the university’s Research Awards Celebration on October 8. Professors Dennis Smith and David Wipf were recognized for their patent on polymer-coated electrodes designed for enhanced electrochemical sensing in environmental, medical, and industrial applications, and Professor Colleen Scott was honored for her patent covering a novel near-infrared dye for biological imaging and optoelectronic devices.
