Stephen Foster graduated with honors from Manchester University, U.K. in 1978, and he received a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Dalhousie University in 1982.  He spent two years as a Research Associate for the Herzberg Institute and was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Ohio State University for three years.  He was an Assistant Professor at Florida State until 1994, at which time he joined the Chemistry Department at Mississippi State University.  Stephen Foster retired in July 2017.
